Items to consider for a commission:

Framed or unframed?
If you wish to have your piece framed, we will charge actual costs of the frame and mat.
You may want to have the piece framed in your area to save on shipping fees.
Decide on the size of the painting you need:

A. Where do you plan on hanging your new painting?
B. What size works best for you?
C. Do you need a portrait or landscape orientation?

You may want to try cutting a piece of paper or folding a sheet and pinning it to your wall will allow you to decide what the ideal size is for your space.
The standard sizes we use are :

  • 5” x 7”
  • 8” x 10”
  • 11” x 14”
  • 16” x 20”
  • 18” x 24”
  • *Other sizes may be available, so please ask should you need a specific size.

Along with the complexity of your painting, size is also a factor when determining the price.

    This brings us to…..

    Your budget.
Determine how much you plan to invest. We will do our best to work within your budget.
Of course size does dictate the cost; however, first decide the perfect piece and then let us see just how inventive we can become in helping you commission your ideal painting or paintings.

    Graphite starting from $65 (5”x7”)
Pastel & Watercolor starting from $175 (11”x14”) *all prices subject to change

    Photographs…
Please choose the photo that will be used for your painting carefully.
Photos that are close up and clear, showing lots of detail are great to work from. Natural lighting is best. Have the light come from the side and not in your subject’s eyes causing them to squint. A soft shadow is better than a harsh one, so try different times of the day for that perfect shot.
Use a tripod for your camera if you have one. If not, try to steady your hand by resting it on a fence or maybe a broom handle, etc.

    Photographing your pet…
This could make for a fun time with your little friend. Try to get down to their level. Leashes and hands can be omitted from the painting. Several photos would be a great idea for reference for color of fur, feathers or skin.

    Remember…
    • Take several photos, just in case someone blinked, and/or from different angles.
    • Please make note of eye color and hair / fur in your photos and if they are correct and
send this along with your photographs.
    • Experiment using something to steady your hand (if needed) or maybe use the timer on
your camera to get yourself portrait taken.
    • All mailed photographs will be returned safely to you.
